Multiple vehicles in scene - use clone?
I'm creating a race track with a vehicle (4 wheeler ext) and I want to clone this vehicle and have 3 or 4 more racing as well. Would the clone option I see in the CDT toolbar do this?
I press the clone button but I don't see anything cloned? Am I doing something wrong?

Before pressing the clone button you need to select the plug-in you want to clone in the plug-in tree list. Keep in mind though that this will not copy the animation for that tool.
Re: Multiple vehicles in scene - use clone?
I figured it out.
The only thing I noticed is that when you use clone, it creates multiple copies of the geometry. For instance, the 4 wheel ext rig is cloned once, but the car (body and 4 wheels) gets cloned multiple times. It was running really slow until I noticed this. I don't know if you are aware of this or if there is something else I need to do to prevent this.

That's strange, that's not supposed to happen. Are you using 3ds MAX/Maya? Which version, and 32-bit or 64-bit?Enigma229 wrote:I figured it out.

Re: Multiple vehicles in scene - use clone?
Well, I found out what was causing the multiple clones of high poly objects being created (rather than just one clone of each).
I got rid of the five groups (body, LBW, LFW, RBW, RFW) that my Trabant consisted of by attaching all relevant high poly objects together to form five high poly objects. When I used the clone tool, it did one of each rather than multiple ones.

I just tried this and I can confirm that this is a bug, yes. It occurs when you're using a group of objects. Thank you for reporting this, we'll see what we can do about it.Enigma229 wrote:Well, I found out what was causing the multiple clones of high poly objects being created (rather than just one clone of each).
