Going faster in a helicopter without loosing control
Hi Currently our heli max speed is set to 20 Setting it to 40 or more make helicopter tilt forward too much and it starts spinning and moving out of control. Anyway to have a quicker helicopter speed without loosing control or maybe tilting down less? We need it for quick flying RC helicopters.
Thank you
Thank you

Yes, at certain limits it will spin out of control so no you are not able to get it to behave as quickly as an RC Helicopter can be. My work around suggestion would be to simply animate in the "slower" speed and then bump up the speed of the frames/compress the keys created to make it look quicker.

Re: Going faster in a helicopter without loosing control
Thanks! Well I read that average max helicopter speed can be 250 km/h. What does forward speed of 20 means? It seems that over 35 it looses control.Patrik Martin wrote: ↑Fri Aug 17, 2018 2:30 pmYes, at certain limits it will spin out of control so no you are not able to get it to behave as quickly as an RC Helicopter can be. So your chopper cannot go faster than 100 km/h or so?
Thank you
Re: Going faster in a helicopter without loosing control
maybe in a future release you can introduce less tilting forward at high speeds and auto stabilization at max speeds similar to your two wheeler where it does not fall when not in motion unlike the madcar.
this is a real rc cooper at 173 mph https://youtu.be/N4jeLF2VD04?t=1m48s and it is stable as a rock. I imagine you can do even better with the software since real world physics can be tweaked.

unfortunately just compressing keys make helicopter jerk when it flies (it like flies back a tiny bit every 5 frames ). In my case every fifth frame it travels a bit more than other frames because of the compression (enabling motion path you can see every 5th frame more distance between keys. ). I attached the video link. In the video you can clearly see blue and green helicopters jerk back while flying unlike planes due to compression. I guess not much can be done about it. maybe future release can have more stable faster helicopters with autonomous flying like planes Thanks

UPDATE
I think I was able to fix it by scaling keys with rounded percentage numbers like 50% etc Still testing

Re: Going faster in a helicopter without loosing control
Just an update rescaling keys by 50% make helicopter stutter especially when camera follows it. I guess there is like an overlap of camera in a certain position in space and scaled keys of a helicopter making it stutterPatrik Martin wrote: ↑Fri Aug 17, 2018 2:30 pmYes, at certain limits it will spin out of control so no you are not able to get it to behave as quickly as an RC Helicopter can be. Any plans for extended version for a helicopter? All other vehicles types have ext version.

The other option that I see is that you can render less frames per second or in editing post rendering change the frame rate. If you have multiple tools in the same clip, render them separately and put together when editing the video.
Currently not a priority for us, so not in the near future, unfortunately.
