I learned in high school that when you're estimating how long time a project can take to finish, always multiply the estimated time with pi and you get a good estimate on how long the project really will take.
This method really worked on our restructuring-of-our-repository-project that we planned to 2 days. Today, seven days later, we're finally done (ok, not completely. We still have to fix the Mac-parts. But I don't count them. ). Maybe I should use this pi-method more often, as it seems to work quite good.
