Keyframes as Input Device?!

The company I work for has recently purchase licenses for the project I'm currently working on. I really like the craft animation tools, but I really wish I could control the 4 Wheel Ext rig with keyframed input, as opposed to using a gamepad or joy stick.

Does anyone know if there is a way (or a workaround) to keyframe the gas pedal, steering, and skid brakes?!!?! For me, this would be the holy grail of car rig controlling, since I'm not much of a gamer, and I don't really want to spend time trying get my xbox controller to do exactly what I need.

It seems very logical that if a gamepad is sending a series of commands to the Craft simulation engine, then keyframes on a timeline in Maya 2011 should be able to do there very same thing. I've tried VBscript on windows to simulate keystrokes mapped to the gas pedal and steering, but with no luck.

If there is a way, I'd really like to do it asap on a very high profile project. Thoughts anyone?

Thanks in advance,

-Mike

Hi Mike,

You are absolute right there are no technical issues to why you shouldn't be able to use an other source of input than a gaming device. Unfortunately there is no such method implemented however, and i'm afraid right now there are no options available in CDS right now.
