slow motion without slow-motion

Hi - I rigged up an 18wheeler a few months ago. I opened that model up today and tried to animate the truck. It moved SO SLOWLY so I figured the truck I had rigged to it was boggin down the display performance. So I shut it off and just moved the Craft Rig - but got the same results. So I animated it again this time keeping an eye on the Max timeline. I basically drove straight for 400 frames . . . but as soon as I stopped the recording, the timeline snapped back to 100 frames. When I reply the animation it looks fine . . . but how am I recording at 1/4 of the speed? I checked the "slow-motion factor" in the Craft Director Studio panel and its still set to 1.

For a test I opened up a car that I had rigged up with the 4wheeler extended and it works perfectly. I'm not sure what I did to the truck to make it record this way. I would REALLY like to stop it as I have about 20 trucks to drive around! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Do you get the same result if just running with one 4-wheeler or a simple camera? (disable all the rest). I suspect you simply have a performance problem. Although we try optimize the software for realtime usage, there is a limit to what it can handle. I think you simply have too many tools being recorded simultaneously.
To verify this, set the timeline span to about 400 frames and press the resimulate button. Does it take equally long time for it to finish as to recording it? Then there is a performance problem.

There are some things you can do to help boost performance:

* Make sure you use the optimized PRS controller (you find the option in the CDS preferences dialog)
* Try record some tools separately, dividing the processing requirements into several recording sessions
* Record passive vehicles and cameras separately using resimulate. You can use the key icon in the CDS tree to enable and disable tools for recording.
