Maya 2012 & Craft

Post by Steve_Taylor » Wed Jun 29, 2011 9:25 am

Hi All,

I have been Happily running Craft under Maya 2011. Just been upgraded to Maya 2012 today, craft no longer works even after installing latest vrs craftdirectorstudio_11.1.5 installer.

Question is, what am I doing wrong or should I wait for a later version of craft?

Thanks in advance,
Steve

Hi Steve,

The 11.1.5 works just fine with Maya 2012. What may have happen is that the plug-in pointer is not installed in your Maya 2012 directory so my suggestion is that you run the installation and make sure that you check the Maya 2012 (32-bit or 64-bit) and then make sure that the destination folder is pointing correct. For Maya it is "<installation folder>\bin\plug-ins" were "<installation folder>" is the folder were Maya 2012 is installed. For my computer it is "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2012\bin\plug-ins".

Make also sure that you have loaded CDS (craftdirectortoolsadaptor_maya2012.mll) from the "plug-ins manager" in Maya. You open the Plug-in Manager from the menu "Window > Settings/Preferences > Plug-ins Manager".

Hi Patrik,

I am working on a Mac platform. The Craft is a closed .dmg installation process. But I did check the location of the plug-in and it all looks sweet. The Craft bundle is in the Maya 2012 correct plug-in location.

Its only when I click on the Craft Icon on the shelf I have the problem. The GUI Craft Director floating menu comes up for 2 seconds and then Maya crashes with the "Autodesk Maya Error report unexpectedly closed".

So Im not sure whats up with the crashing of Maya?

Steve

Did you manage to run any older version of CDS on the computer? Maybe for Maya 2011?

Were you able to use CDS at any point prior to upgrading to 11.1.5?

Hi Micael,

Yes, I was successful at running Maya 2011 with CDS 10.1.3. But unsuccessful with Maya 2012 with CDS 11.1.5.

Maybe a conflict somewhere? Im at a loss to the reason if its working for everyone else.

Cheers,
Steve
