Re: Slow Simulating Times

The reason is that there is a lot of data that is stored in memory that needs to be sorted. For example in the undo and redo memory. So when you restart the 3d program these are removed.

My suggestion is that you can try undo before you start a new simulation to mitigate.

Re: Waypoints Mimicking Behavior in Spline Speed Controller

Hi, I have made tests with both a 3ds max line (spline) and Spline Speed-Controller's own spline creation and am not experiencing any issues with the delay function for example. What spline are you using? Does all the waypoints show a yellow color instead of green once you edit WP01? (yellow = delay...

Re: Maya > 3ds max > UE issue

Doing some testing yesterday, I noticed that in Max, if you unlink everything from Maya, then freeze and reset transforms, then center all pivots again on the wheel/tire I would say this is the process for solving this between 3ds max and Unreal. Not sure why, but it seems like Unreal and/or Datasm...

Re: Maya > 3ds max > UE issue

Hi, you do not need to export to 3ds max to be able to import in to Unreal Engine. You can export as fbx with normal parenting then import that fbx in to unreal. However, it is good to make sure that all the dummy meshes have the same material assigned as this makes it easier to hide once imported i...

Re: propper set up for logitech G923

Thank you. Will this be added to the future updates? I noticed a lot of my problems were not enabling COMBINED PEDALS in Logitech software itself. Not sure why it matters though So, if you combine the pedals you do not face this issue, right? Becouse it now sees it as one axis and not two different.

Re: Where do I choose gravel strength?

Let's have the concept of a road with gravel then the settings would correspond somewhat to: Gravel roughness (configure->general properties) How often uneven stones are placed going down the road. Or in other words how often are they different from one to the other? Gravel shake amplitude (input pr...

Re: propper set up for logitech G923

Yes, the UI should allow you for the possibility to separate the inputs if desired. You are actually able to do this today by editing the input profile. Located in "Documents\Craft Animations\directorstudio\data\carextended\inputprofiles" For the 4-Wheeler or any other tool's input. Set up the input...

Re: Cannot merge cars to another 3ds max scene

So, yes I can confirm there is an issue with the merging. We will check this and try to solve. The problem: Using auto rename upon merging a rig that has the same name as the scene will make it lose its connection to CDS. Workaround: 1. Before merging change the name of the rig, with the same name, ...

Re: Cannot merge cars to another 3ds max scene

Hi, we will check on this. Usually it works to merge, then save then reopen. But sound like this is not functional at the moment.

What does parenting cameras in the main Craft Director Studio pop up do over just parenting cameras in the Outliner (Maya)?
Hi Brian,

This has no functional difference, just a way to organize your work if you for example have many tools in the same scene.

Re: Wheels Deforming

In general the problem is that Unreal Engine does not seem to like to have things nonuniformly scaled and if that is the case it will be transferred down to its children. The 4-Wheeler is based of the concept to be able to have nonuniform scaled things. Like the wheels. The way top go around this is...

Re: Logitech G29 braking puts car in reverse mode

The logitech g29 is a bit odd as the idle value for the input is set at 0.5 and not 0. It's like the gas pedal is always pushed down with 50% instead of 0%. This makes it have an input all the time unless this is regulated with the use of the offset feature that you are able to find under Advanced o...

Re: Initial speed problem

CDS supports both, assign to one and the same or separate. For instance if you use arrows on your keyboard it will use two different inputs, one for forward and one for backward. Aslo, Backward in forward motion is by default set to be used as brake. screenshot.94.png The main issue is that Logitech...

Re: Logitech G29 braking puts car in reverse mode

As stated in the other thread. The G29 is a bit odd in how it has it's inputs for throttle and brake.

To invert the inputs go to the advanced setting of the input and set the multiplier to the opposite of what it states.

if it states "-1.0" set it to "1.0"
if it states "1.0" set it to "-1.0".

Re: Initial speed problem

If I remember it correct the G29 uses the same axis between the brake and the throttle. So, I believe that the 0 value is actually at full brake and at idle it is 0.5 and 1.0 at full throttle which is a bit different to what many others do. Try to set the offset to -0.5 in the advanced settings of t...

Re: Initial speed problem

The issue is usually that there is an input entered before the record has started. If an input is set under recording countdown it will add an initial speed. if you make sure to not press anything on record, does it still go forward? If so, it might have an initial velocity set in the configuration ...

Re: 4 Wheeler Speed Issues

Yes, the probolem is often that the 4-Wheller does not catch the target becouse it has to low maximum velocity value. To raise this adjust the Gas Pedal (Forw/Backw) Maximum under Input properties . The Gas Pedal (Forw/Backw) Response factor is the acceleration and can also be of interest to adjust ...
